Senior Production Manager - Content Services

LOCATIONS:

The Senior Production Manager leads the production management ‘spine’ within the Content Services team. This role oversees all administrative requirements from budgets, financial transactions, crew engagement to general project management for Content Services including high frequency legal interface. ResponsibilitiesActing as a main point of contact for Content Services the role is responsible for:
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Planning and management of the Content Services budget, ensuring quarterly targets are met and reported quarterly to senior management
  • Oversee the creation of budgets and budget breakdowns for all projects
  • Oversee processing of invoices, travel & entertainment through SAP finance system
  • Have a thorough knowledge of all company T & E policies
  • Form strong relationships with key stakeholders in Finance teams.


LEGAL INTERFACE & REGULATORY MANAGEMENT

  • Work with Australian legal team on contracts including legal aspects for internal and external productions e.g. Master Production Agreements, talent engagement, performance rights, music rights and general oversight of the use and clearance of Disney and third party IP
  • Oversight of adherence to all State and Federal regulations regarding engagement of children across all Australian states and New Zealand as well as The Walt Disney Company internal guidelines
  • Working closely with US based music lawyer and act as the key contact in Australian market for negotiation of music rights including commissioned work and reporting use of Production music to Audio Networks and APRA/AMCOS
  • Preparation of standard booking forms, licences, contracts and short term hire agreements
  • In line with company requirements, completing risk assessments and safety policies, as well as enforcing legal guidelines when filming with children, including, but not limited to, the NSW Office of Children’s Guardian


CREW ENGAGEMENT

  • Oversight of freelance resources, crew engagement and negotiations for the department
  • Drives negotiations with key freelance crew to seek best rates including parity of rates across disciplines of DOP’s, Editors and Audio Engineers
  • First point of contact for all crew bookings
  • Liaise with external vendors in relation to technical support


GENERAL DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT (IN COLLABORATION WITH DIRECTOR, CONTENT SERVICES)

  • Create and manage annual Production slate and post-production schedules
  • Manage department make list to ensure execution of projects content and Digital product
  • Key role in recruiting, training, mentoring production management team spine within team
  • Working with local and international third party production partners to create unique, local content for the Disney ecosystem
  • Oversee maintenance of schedules, rundowns and production records
  • Represent Content Services team at internal meetings as and when required
  • Play an integral project management role during large integrated campaigns, tracking timing, briefs and budgets on all projects, including pre and post production and reporting to senior management
  • Key contact for integrated advertising content and synergy and franchise activity across The Walt Disney Company Australia & NZ in partnership with Content Planning team
  • Liaise with the internal Programming, Content Planning, Marketing, Finance and Legal teams to ensure projects are compliant and delivered in timely fashion
  • Oversee the organisation of film permits, transport, equipment hire, call sheets
  • Oversee coordination of weekly team meeting to discuss work in progress
  • Provide management and organisational support to Content Services team
  • Oversee general office administration via management and delegation with direct reports
  • Assist Producers as required in organisational aspects of their projects including budgeting, research and crew bookings
  • Liaise with internal Media Management team to review and update post production workflow and delivery specifications and ensure projects are delivered accurately
  • Assist on larger location shoots as and when required

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in production management inside media organisation
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Experience in creating, interpreting and tracking production budgets
  • High level of experience with SAP or similar accounting software
  • Strong finance background in relation to building and tracking multiple budgets
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding regarding State regulations regarding the engagement of children: experience of executing the required procedures
  • Strong background in legal requirements of contracts centred on production execution
  • Experienced in logistics of Production, including creating and maintaining call sheets, schedules and rundowns and management of post-production
  • Management and mentoring skillset
  • Solid industry contacts in terms of crew and technical staff.
