Engineer (Temp)

LOCATIONS:
Engineering and Media IT Infrastructure provides infrastructure and engineering support for operations under the Media Networks business group in Asia Pacific (APAC). We provides consultancy, design and build all media technical facility in APAC. Primary goal of this team is to leverage on technology to bring about efficiency, process optimization, value maximization and growth opportunities to the business.
The ideal candidate must be a strong self-motivated individual, process sound engineering and computer knowledge, passionate about new technologies in Media IT. This role requires candidate to work with multiple operation teams and willing to work on 12 hours rotating shift.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include (but not limited) to the following:
  • Day-to-day management and providing first line technical support of the Broadcast playback, Transmission, Digital Asset Management System and Digital Media System.
  • Daily routine inspection on the technical equipment according to the Engineer’s daily checklist. (Media Prep/On Air Broadcast equipment checklist, TOC RF Uplink equipment checklist etc.)
  • Perform the routine maintenance of the technical equipment as scheduled in the maintenance chart.
  • Follow up the tasks hand over by the previous shift Engineer.
  • Follow up on a new /outstanding Jira issues (i.e. On Air issues, Orchestrator transcoding issues etc) and follow up with system owner on any open Jira issue.
  • Handle daily Operations issues encountered by the users, like deletion of materials from the servers after refile, files get stuck in between the delivery process etc.
  • Perform Activation and Deactivation of conditional access decoders as per channel manager request.
  • Take immediate remedial actions for any technical equipment failure and utility interruptions.
  • Record down the jobs done and relevant information in the respective Jira reports.
  • Record all performed activities in daily operation email update.
  • Perform first line of technical communication with our overseas affiliates, and provide technical assistance on satellite uplink and downlink issues.
  • Report any abnormalities of office premises and technical equipment failure/malfunction to Director of Engineering for appropriate actions
  • Carry the walkie talkie and duty engineer hand phone at all time.
  • Render technical assistance as requested by other departments.
  • Attend to external vendors on M&E schedule maintenance.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Diploma in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years relevant working experience on technical support or Master Control Operation.
  • Ideally the incumbent must be technically sound, ability to communicate well and is a fast learner.
