Assistant Buyer


We are seeking an experienced Assistant Buyer to join the Disney Stores Head Office on a permanent basis. You will support the Buyer to plan, select and manage the purchase and intake of stock to maximise sales and margin to achieve all targets.
The role:

  • Assist the Buyer to develop a departmental strategy which delivers balanced and well-constructed ranges across all markets from the Global assortment pack
  • With the relevant TDSE teams assist in the planning, delivery and execution of specific franchises and events in store and Online
  • Maintain by market, regular research on competitor and trend analysis, through discussions with Country teams and store visits. Provide feedback to the Department and Global team
  • Closely oversee the Buyers Assistant (BA) in completing the sample checking process highlighting any issues with the samples to the Buyer
  • Monitor the Global calendar and be aware of key dates and critical deadlines
  • Manage the YY and sample tracker, highlighting potential delivery delays to the Buying team
  • Work with the Brand & Image team to support product launches Online. Complete online checks and ensure any missing information is highlighted to the appropriate teams
  • Gain Technical Services approval on products where needed
  • Action accurate and timely communications to stores through regular and effective communication with Store
  • Operations, Visual Merchandising and Online. For example, product delays or technical issues
  • Liaise with sourcing and vendors regarding delivery logistics, re-buys and cancellations and update Buyer as required
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Merchandiser review in-season trading reports to identify and present opportunities and risks, both short and medium term, to the Buyer and Merchandiser
  • Oversee the Buyers Assistant (BA) in the completion of all administrative tasks to achieve on time deliveries

Areas of Accountability

  • Accountable to the Buyer
  • Accurate and timely completion of tasks including but not limited to:
  • Update and Compare Report
  • Critical Path Management
  • YY and Sample Tracker
  • Demonstrate an awareness of current business priorities and how these may affect your department plans
  • An awareness of TDSE business priorities and the market in which we operate
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key business partners including the Global teams to achieve
  • individual and business objectives
  • Overseeing the accurate and timely completion of the team’s BA admin task

Experience required:

  • Proven experience as a BA within an omni-channel retailer, essential
  • Previous experience at AB level, desirable
  • Experience of participating in range construction, desirable
  • Experience of overseeing the performance of other team members, desirable
  • Demonstrable experience of working in teams and building effective relationships
