Broadcast Engineer (Part-Time)

BAMTECH Media’s San Francisco broadcast engineers provide 24 hour operations, with tier 1 and tier 2 support to various broadcast systems. Broadcast Engineers operate from the Transmission Operation Center in San Francisco, managing all A/V transmission paths into our data centers. Engineers monitor and analyze the delivery of all A/V transmission to our partners. Candidates should have an eagerness to learn and adapt to new broadcast and IP technologies in order to meet our current and future needs.
The work will be based out of our San Francisco office. Shift times will vary and in most cases, will be 40 hours a week. Responsibilities

  • Routing and monitoring multiple A/V feeds to and from our facilities.
  • Read and interpret schematic and topology drawings.
  • Quickly identify and resolve issues in a live production environment.
  • Keep accurate reporting and accounting of all technical faults.
  • Provide professional, courteous and timely technical support.
  • Assist with testing equipment for potential use in future projects.
  • Maintain tracking spreadsheets and update accordingly

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with video/audio QC
  • Experience working with live content
  • Knowledge of digital video and streaming encoders.
  • 2 years broadcast transmission or IP streaming experience.
  • Knowledge of digital video and streaming encoders.
  • Ability to work in both Mac and Windows environment
  • Clear communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment a must.
  • Good organizational skills; must be able to track large scale projects and keep teams updated on status
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist in documenting department processes.
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of CDN and AWS Distributions.
  • Working knowledge of monitoring and analyzing software (i.e Splunk, Kibana)
  • Operational experience in live transmission/acquisition, master control or live streaming.
  • Working knowledge of SD/HD-SDI, ASI, MPEG and J2K signal types.
  • Working knowledge of transmission and acquisition equipment and systems.
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital audio signals.
  • Knowledge of networking and TS Over IP principals.
  • Experience with Evertz, Snell, Grass Valley, Ross, Ateme, Sencore and other leading manufacturers in routers, switchers and terminal gear.
  • Understanding signal flows and CAD drawings.
  • Experience in similar fast paced environments
