Sr Financial Reporting Analyst

Financial Reporting is the organization within the Controllership that leads and facilitates the segment’s financial reporting processes, including the production of all deliverables and supporting analysis for SEC reporting and segment management reporting. In addition, the team has direct responsibility over the financial statement consolidation of the individual financial reporting processes for business areas within the parks and resorts segment. Specifically, the Domestic Parks Financial Reporting Team prepares monthly, quarterly and year-to-date financial statements and analyzes variances to forecast, plan, and prior year. Typical responsibilities of a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst include completing recurring monthly financial reporting deliverables, quarter-end tasks, and other projects as assigned by Management. Responsibilities

  • Supports the Domestic Parks Operating Results East Team
  • Partners with various line of business partners to provide accounting guidance, journal entry and hierarchy assistance
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP and SOX guidelines as well as various control and compliance procedures, including but not limited to: account reconciliations, journal entries, financial statement hierarchy maintenance, MCS questionnaires and legal entity reporting
  • Completes monthly/quarterly close processes by preparing P&L analysis for Segment and Corporate executives (Cause of Change, Variance Explanations, etc)
  • Processes journal entries, reviews account reconciliations and assists with ad-hoc reporting requests and/or projects related to the income statement and technical accounting guidance
  • Identifies process improvements and leads various efficiency projects
  • Performs technical accounting research, interprets related guidance and applies to business scenarios to assist in management decision making
  • Assists with interim and year end PwC audit
  • Acts as a coach and mentor for other team members

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting, internal controls, and close process
  • Ability to prepare and present information to support decision making
  • Strong analytical and writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
  • Core fundamental knowledge required to assess reasonableness of business partners variance explanations
  • Strong working knowledge of PC-based software applications, including Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to plan and prioritize work and handle multiple priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities and provides solutions
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule
  • Ability to perform well in a fast paced environment
  • SAP and consolidation systems experience
  • Experience with SEC filings
  • Technical accounting writing and research
  • Proven ability to interpret accounting guidance and apply to business scenarios to help in management decision making
  • Experience leading people
  • CPA preferred

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Preferred Education

  • Master of Accountancy or MBA
