This team is responsible for managing conservation charitable funding, maintaining global relationships with environmental nonprofit organizations and third party advocates while identifying new opportunities, synergizing and supporting a variety of related corporate initiatives, collaborating on various conservation programs across the enterprise in support of the Disney Conservation Fund. Since 1995, the Disney Conservation Fund has granted more than $70 million to support conservation programs across 115 countries.
ResponsibilitiesA Day in the Life…
While every day can be different in regards to focus, each day is a chance to work with a high-performing, supportive team working to drive business impact and support organizations saving wildlife and wild places. The Strategic Philanthropy Intern will:

  • Support the Disney Conservation Fund fundraising and guest engagement strategy leveraging technology opportunities.
  • Support the coordination and planning of special events related to internal/external engagement connected to Disney’s conservation philanthropy work; includes cast recognition events and the conservation components of media events at the Walt Disney World Resort.
  • Support internal and external corporate communications objectives, with a particular focus on sourcing assets, supporting NGO engagement, developing content and posting updates through various platforms including websites, blogs, Google Earth and social media.
  • Assist with the administration of the Disney Conservation Fund (DCF) including research, data management, correspondence, and applying metrics to evaluate the impact of program support.
  • Perform office duties including data entry, managing mail, digitizing files, research, tracking promotional inventory, and answering phones.

Basic QualificationsWhat we are looking for…

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including interpersonal skills, working well independently and with teams
  • Demonstrated strong organization and time management skills to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines with superior attention to detail
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word
  • Knowledge of various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in corporate social responsibility and previous involvement in efforts related to the environment/conservation
  • Experience with graphic design and/or Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Publisher
  • Experience with event coordination and/or planning
  • Public speaking experience

Required Education

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program
  • Majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Environmental Public Policy, Conservation, or related fields of study

Additional Information

  • The approximate dates of this internship are June 2018 through January 2019
  • Candidate must be available to work full time hours (approximately 40hours per week) for the duration of the internship
  • Able to provide own housing and transportation in the Orlando area
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
