VP, Production Finance

We are seeking an experienced film and television executive for the VP, Finance position. This individual will collaborate with Corporate, Production and Finance teams across all segments of The Walt Disney Company, playing a critical role in shepherding DTC’s content P&L and financial reporting for original programming budgets and catalogue administration. The ideal candidate will have experience in movie and television production finance and distribution for SVOD platforms.
Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal team members in business affairs, scheduling and creative to set Disney DTC’s content strategy, financial plan, and programming calendar
  • Provide accurate, timely cost reports, cash flow and headcount forecasts for DTC Content P&L
  • Act as finance liaison between Disney DTC and TWDC segment Production and Finance teams, Corporate Strategy, BAMTech and Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis

Original Programming:

  • Manage all aspects of Production Finance process and procedures for Disney DTC original programming (e.g. greenlight requests, contract administration, third party acquisitions) to establish best practices and maintain consistency for maximum efficiency
  • Partner with Production teams across TWDC segments to measure health of complex budgets and delivery schedules related to original programming, including movies, scripted pilot/series, international co-productions, documentaries, specials, short-form, live events, ancillary content, etc.
  • Rigorously analyze and pro-actively collaborate with TWDC Production teams to problem-solve budgets, staffing, scheduling and budget issues to meet Disney DTC original programming cost goals
  • Create and communicate executive summaries that headline measurement of production and financial health of Disney DTC original programming

Catalogue Programming:

  • Manage, track and forecast asset, rights, participation and residuals costs associated with the scheduling and deployment of catalogue content

Basic Qualifications

  • 15+ years total experience (at least 10 years doing Finance)
  • MBA degree (or comparable in-house production finance, accounting experience)
  • Extensive knowledge of SVOD financial structures and accounting practices
  • Strong leadership, organizational skills and emotionally intelligent communication with a vision
  • Proven ability to work across a matrixed organization while also able to self-motivate
  • Expertise with production budgets and the ability to provide business counsel on production matters
  • High degree of knowledge related to unions and guilds, production tax incentives, and international co-productions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the brands and franchises of The Walt Disney Company
  • Familiarity with domestic and international distribution marketplace and sales benchmarking

Required Education

  • MBA degree (or comparable in-house production finance, accounting experience)
