Director, Scheduling

We are seeking an experienced executive for the Director, Scheduling position. This individual will develop the overall scheduling analysis and recommendations that maximize original content launches with the curation of The Walt Disney Company catalogue content to drive viewership across Disney DTC. He/she will collaborate with BAMTech, TWDC technology infrastructure teams across segments, Home Entertainment and TV Distribution, Disney Digital Network, and Corporate Synergy and Corporate Franchise teams, playing a critical role in structuring the overall strategic approach that showcases depth, breadth and exclusivity of content. The ideal candidate will have experience in a comparable position shepherding Scheduling for SVOD platforms. Responsibilities

  • Oversight of program planning and scheduling for original and catalogue movie, series and short form content for Disney DTC
  • Leverage market and behavior data, audience research to drive data and analytics that determine effective scheduling strategies
  • Create high-impact, curated programming events that leverage TWDC brands and franchises
  • Lead team members in establishing a master program inventory and schedule based on program availability, brand qualities and research/ratings data evaluation
  • Recommend renewals, cancellations and scheduling changes
  • Identify programming gaps and audience segment opportunities
  • Work closely with internal team members in creative, finance and business affairs to set Disney DTC’s content strategy, financial plan, and programming calendar
  • Communicate and coordinate the legal and financial approval and administrative processes for all catalogue rights, participation and residuals
  • Act as content liaison between Disney DTC, TWDC technology infrastructure teams and BAMTech, providing program scheduling information to asset management, marketing, sales and program operations
  • Lead and mentor junior team members
  • Provide general business counsel in a rapidly changing consumer environment

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in program scheduling
  • B.A. degree, M.B.A. a plus
  • Passion and insight into The Walt Disney Company segments, brands and franchises, the elements that define them, and expertise to build further audience engagement
  • Exceptional command of scheduling and programming strategy, with demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of content, position counterprogramming and leverage insights from social media
  • Strategic, creative and entrepreneurial mindset with a demonstrated track record of developing scheduling stunts, events, themes, etc., to generate maximum viewership
  • Ability to take risks and think outside traditional linear television model
  • Deep understanding of media consumption patterns and viewing habits
  • Strong leadership, organizational skills and emotionally intelligent communicator with a vision
  • Proven ability to work across a matrixed organization while also able to self-motivate
  • Demonstrated management skills to foster growth of team members
