Business & Legal Affairs JD Associate, Theatrical Group – Summer 2018

LOCATIONS:

Disney Theatrical Group operates under the direction of Thomas Schumacher and is among the world’s most successful commercial theatre enterprises, bringing live entertainment events to a global annual audience of more than 19 million people in more than 50 countries. Under the Disney Theatrical banner, the group produces and licenses Broadway musicals around the world, delivers live shows globally through its license to Feld Entertainment, and licenses musical titles for local, school and community theatre productions through Music Theatre International.

The Business and Legal Affairs department provides all legal and business affairs services to Disney Theatrical Group, including negotiating and drafting substantially all of the voluminous contracts that DTG enters into each year. We provide efficient advice and services that allows DTG to be profitable with limited risk.

Basic QualificationsYou bring…

  • Theatre business experience and/or proven interest in entertainment business or entertainment law
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel

Preferred QualificationsEven better…

  • Coursework in copyright, entertainment business, entertainment law or other intellectual property areas
  • Prior internship at a theatre or entertainment company or law firm

  • Prior internship at a theatre or entertainment company or law firm

Additional InformationProgram Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability from May/June through August
  • Must provide own housing and transportation to/from work. Position is in New York, NY.
  • Must be enrolled in a JD program at a university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to participation in the internship program
