Asset Management Specialist

The Walt Disney Studios encompasses the creation, production, promotion, sales, acquisition and domestic and international distribution of live-action and animated motion pictures, home entertainment releases, live stage plays, and music and soundtrack recordings.
Content Technology/Asset Management is a division within the larger Studio Technology team and is dedicated to the acquisition, description, security and preservation of the assets created, used and maintained by the Walt Disney Studios.
Responsibilities

  • Responsible for data curation of all Asset Management solutions – adding value to assets via accurate metadata and organization
  • Facilitate Data Curation Working Group in partnership with business unit asset managers
  • Responsible for the understanding, upkeep and adherence to taxonomy and metadata schema
  • Responsible for data normalization, data cleansing and automatic metadata recognition efforts
  • Perform quality control of metadata by all business unit asset managers
  • Report to Data Governance Council on all Data Curation Working Group activity
  • Responsible for asset security and understanding user permissions
  • Assist users in upload, search and research within Asset Management products
  • Advocate for metadata and train users on its importance
  • Analyze how updates to data model affect ecosystem

Basic Qualifications

  • 1-2 years work experience in related field, preferably managing digital collections
  • Familiarity with databases and ability to understand data structures
  • Proficiency in cataloging and description
  • Previous experience with Asset Management
  • Strong interpersonal skills, along with verbal and written communication
  • Understanding of metadata standards
  • Experience with media technologies and production workflows
  • Detail oriented and organized

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with learning and teaching new technologies
  • Familiarity with Media & Entertainment industry
  • Membership in industry trade organizations

Preferred Education

  • Masters Degree in Library and/or Information Science from an ALA accredited institution or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related equivalent
