Senior Manager - News Proposals

LOCATIONS:

The Senior Manager of News Proposals will oversee all aspects of inventory control and management for the ABC News portfolio of 10 properties in addition to political specials. He/she will work closely with the VP on forecasting strategies as a means to maximizing revenue and inventory. The Senior Manager of News Proposals will also be responsible for developing and writing sales reports in conjunction with analyzing sales and market data. He/she will assist in training and overseeing four (4) Sales Planners and will mentor them in their roles. Responsibilities

  • The role of Senior Manager of News Proposals is to support the Vice President of News Proposals on all aspects of sales initiatives
  • Oversee and manage inventory for all News programs
  • Forecasting
    • Work with VP on analyzing spending trends, network performance and Research estimates
    • Work with VP on establishing pricing and revenue goals
  • Reporting
    • Daily Revenue Report
    • Weekly Status Report
    • Weekly Ratings Performance Track
    • Monitoring of Category Avails
    • Option Reports
      • Oversee all option requests, plans and negotiations
  • Competitive analysis and reporting
  • Category analysis and reporting
  • Oversee stewardship and ADU allocation
  • Oversee Integrated Marketing packages and execution
  • Communicate with Producers of News Programs on a daily basis regarding content conflicts with advertisers and sponsorship placements
  • Recommend and collaborate with IT for report improvements and enhancements
  • Assist in training and managing all Sales Planners on a day-to-day basis
  • Operate as a resource for all issues pertaining to traffic, BS&P, Programming, Stewardship, etc.
    • This includes managing daily allocations for GMA’s 1A (weather insert) and Nightline’s NTL 5.
  • Cover VP when VP is out of the office

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in a planning, sales, finance or related field
  • Creative problem solving dexterity. Analytical approach to driving revenue
  • Self-motivated and proactive with incredible attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization abilities
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient in Outlook (create/edit e-mails and appointments), Word (create/edit documents), and Power Point (create/edit presentations)
  • Expert in Excel with the ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets
  • Strong math skills
  • Understanding of marketplace evaluation
  • Excellent decision making skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with TV Media Sales
  • Proficient at media math
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
