Early Morning News Production Internship, ABC News- Summer 2018

The ABC News Early Morning team produces 2 hours of overnight news programming on the ABC network (World News Now and America This Morning) with 1.5 million combined viewers on average per day, while also servicing Good Morning America's production needs.
ResponsibilitiesA day in the life…
•Assist producers with all aspects of news gathering and production, including on-air segments
•Build story proposal lists and elements
•Assist with delivery of show production elements/rundowns, etc.
•Running scripts
•Travel on story shoots
•Opportunities for story writing/editing available and encouraged
•Opportunities for pitching and producing segments for air

Basic QualificationsWhat you bring to the role…
•Strong news judgment
•Strong writing skills
•Some Avid editing experience
*TO BE QUALIFIED, YOU MUST BE WILLING TO WORK A REGULAR SHIFT FROM 9PM – 5AM, SUNDAY-THURSDAY*
•All candidates must possess unrestricted work authorization
•All candidates must be at least 18 years old
•All candidates must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months - OR - be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program in order to qualify for this internship
•All candidates must be available from May/June to August/September for the 12 week program
•All candidates must be willing to work 40 hours/week (overnight hours)
•All candidates must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
•All candidates must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
Preferred Qualifications•Recent graduate within 6 months of graduation date
•Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
•Major or previous coursework in journalism
•Previous experience (academic or internship) in television, news & new media production
•Previous experience (academic or internship) writing news stories for publication
•Strong proficiency in non-linear video editing software (AVID or Final Cut)
•Previous internship experience in professional newsroom
