Resource Manager, Merchandise Operations

LOCATIONS:

Shanghai Disney Resort, the first Disney resort in mainland China, is a place where friends and families can escape together to a whole new world of fantasy, imagination, creativity, and adventure. The resort is a home to the Shanghai Disneyland theme park, two themed hotels – Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel, Disneytown, a large shopping, dining and entertainment venue, a Broadway-style theatre, a Wishing Star Park and other outdoor recreation areas. Shanghai Disneyland is a Magic Kingdom-style theme park featuring classic Disney storytelling and characters but with authentic cultural touches and themes tailored specifically for the people of China. At this magical destination, we’re looking for a variety of world-class professionals including front line Cast Members and an innovative development team to help our plans take shape.
ResponsibilitiesThis role includes a wide range of responsibilities including the planning, leading and summarizing of merchandising events and projects as well as supporting event initiated by other line of business. The Resource Manager assists our merchandise third party vendors by helping them develop business strategies and adjust their business tactics to maximize their sales results. The leader develops strategies to drive Disney Pin Trading activities and leads the team to execute the day to day efforts. The leader will partner with Corporate Alliance and Operating Participants as the Merchandise representative. This position also leads a team who deals with after-sales concerns on behalf of merchandise
The Resource Manager should possess excellent leadership skills, cross–department partnership skills, have a strategic vision, and be able to communicate confidently with a variety of external and internal teams including senior leadership. Basic Qualifications1. Events and Projects
Planning, leading and summarizing events and projects initiated by Merchandise. Supporting the other events or projects initiated by other line of business. Associated responsibilities include:

  • Overall plan development
  • Participate in revenue target setting
  • Cost estimation
  • Plan details
  • Resource identification
  • Partner with stakeholders to clearly identify, confirm and implement all the details
  • Lead the execution of the events/projects
  • Be accountable for the adjustment of the details (timeline, costs, qualities, etc.) as the event evolves
  • Post event summary. Analyze the results of events and include a lessons learned document that will enable continuous improvement of future events and projects
  • Support events and projects initiated by other lines of business by integrating the resource of the merchandise team

Merchandise Third Party Vendor Management
Manage merchandise third party vendors, provide assistance and resources to ensure smooth operations. Help them develop business strategies and adjust business tactics to maximize business results.

  • Remain aware of the daily operation and business conditions
  • Participate in new product development planning
  • Assist in pricing new products
  • Track and analyze business conditions according to revenue report
  • According to business needs, update or amend the contracts
  • Ensure that all the vendors and their manufactures obtain FAMA certification
  • Ensure that all the merchandise labeling meets the compliance requirements

Pin Trading


Strategize Disney Pin Trading activities and lead the team to execute the activities

  • Develop strategies for day to day Pin Trading activities throughout the resort
  • Develop the budget for necessary supplies (pins, lanyards, & etc.) for day to day Pin Trading activity
  • Manage budgets and maintain focus on the expense
  • Communicate with operations leaders regarding the Pin Trading programs and collect feedback regarding the various activities
  • Update and adjust strategies of future events bases on the results of recent activities
  • Regularly summarize the activities
  • Promote the culture of Disney Pin Trading

Partner with Corporate Alliance & Operating Participant Team

  • Review the merchandise that all operating participants will sell throughout the resort
  • Assist with the events and promotions that our alliance partners initiate
  • Help to explore the feasibility of co-branding opportunities

Merchandise After-Sale Service and Guest Recovery

  • Ensure that the team maintains the after-sale service and guest service recovery operating guidelines
  • Analyze the guest service recovery summary on a regular basis
  • Guide the team to obtain support from relative teams to thoroughly solve the issues
  • Continuously optimize the guest service recovery process and enhance the guests’ satisfaction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in Chinese
  • Fluent in English
  • Bachlor degree and/or equivalent
  • Proven retail guest service or store operations related experience
  • Project management experience (preferred)
  • Demonstrated strong communication skill
  • Demonstrated excellent time management ability (good at prioritizing different missions and execute efficiently)
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated proficiency with typing and strong computer technology skills
  • Demonstrated strong partnering and working relationship skills while is able to work independently
  • Demonstrated positive attitude with the ability to be responsive to feedback
  • Demonstrated initiative skills in the work place
  • Ability to communicate tasks with senior leaders
  • Ability to work as part of a high performance team
  • Willingness to learn new skills and process
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Powerpoint
