Senior Architect

LOCATIONS:

This position will be responsible for providing architectural support and technical expertise to the various Engineering Services (maintenance) teams at the Shanghai Disney Resort (SHDR). This position will primarily be focused on Buildings, Area Development, and all architectural detailing for these items. Initially this position will support tasks in preparation for the ongoing operation of the theme park facilities and area development, including but not limited to facility construction, area development, assisting with testing and commissioning, identification of tools and equipment needed to support maintenance, writing safety/technical procedures, researching shop drawings from all lands to determine the construction techniques and resolve problems, assisting all engineers and contractors with architectural detailing, familiar with China GB codes and able to research the codes to assure compliance, etc.
ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate a visible commitment to safety.
Work directly with project teams on the technical scopes of the project throughout the final phases of design, construction, testing & commissioning and turn-over.
Provide quality control support throughout installation and T&C.
Research IFC drawings and Shop Drawings from archive files to find details of existing construction for all facilities throughout the Resort
Assists in conceptual design and production design/drawing package in support of project requirements.
Prepare design drawings, calculations, specifications and quality control processes in support of sustainment of architecture and engineering and assigned projects.
Research China GB codes to assure that all work performed is in compliance with the latest GB Code
Participate in design planning with internal and external entities.
Assists in resolving technical conflicts, encountered with the design/drawing package, with vendors and shops to ensure conformance with design documentation.
Provide architecture and engineering recommendations for action, and suggested priorities for the resolution of facility and area development operational and architectural problems.
Provide timely communication to management and Resort partners. Provide architecture and engineering support and technical expertise to the Engineering Services teams (maintenance).
Troubleshoot technical problems and propose architectural and engineering solutions for resolution as needed.
May direct the work of interns, designers, engineers and/or technicians.
Will be required to interface with various government bureaus, regulatory agencies and utility providers as needed.
Must be willing to work evenings, holidays, weekends, and various shifts as needed.
May be required to travel within China as well as to the US and other international locations for training, design reviews, etc.
Basic Qualifications7 to 12 years of experience in an Architecture role.
Experience in architectural design with focus on building facilities and area development (Facility exteriors and interiors, area development, etc.)
Experience working with public facilities, dealing with contractors, researching and analyzing shop drawings, working with engineering teams.
Experience with theme park/resort development preferred.
Experience leading/mentoring junior architects preferred.
Computer and Internet proficiency in Chinese and English software required, including Office applications, design (CAD applications), BIM/3D modeling, etc.
Preferred QualificationsStrong oral and written communication skills. Bilingual in Chinese and English is required.
Team Player with good relationship skills.
Logical and analytical thinker with the ability to apply architectural and engineering judgment to problem solving.
Ability to balance productivity on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of architecture and engineering to completion of difficult assignment.
Stays current on industry and technological advances.
Self-starter with the ability to manage issues through to completion.
