Lead Software Engineer

LOCATIONS:

Walt Disney Attractions Technology (WDAT) is the technology arm of Parks and Resorts segment. Through our award-winning websites, we provide a digital portal to magical travel destinations such as the Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida, the Disneyland® Resort in California and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. At WDAT, we also have designed and created websites for Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney and Disney Vacation Club. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Product and Creative to define specifications in an empowered team environment
  • Conduct analysis to solve problems and define technical direction
  • Handle performance, high-availability and stability in all deliverables
  • Provide oversight, guidance and mentoring to engineering team
  • Be part of a strong development team implementing and maintaining web and mobile applications
  • Develop high quality code adhering to engineering best practices including automated unit and integration testing, code reviews, and documentation
  • Be a subject matter expert in both technology and the specific domain of the team
  • Balance technical requirements and best practices with business requirements and deadlines
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle

Basic Qualifications

  • Has 8+ years of software development experience, Emphasizes maintainability, scalability and defect-free coding via well factored code and CS fundamentals
  • 4+ years of android or IOS mobile app development
  • 4+ years of front-end web development experience
  • 4+ years of JavaScript and jQuery
  • Experience architecting highly available systems
  • Experience launching applications into cloud environments
  • Proven delivery of mid- to large-size applications
  • Experience with web stacks like AngularJS and Node.js framework etc.
  • Experience developing responsive sites for mobile and tablet devices
  • Proficient using web services, ajax, and JSON
  • Solid knowledge of relevant protocols (HTTP, SSL, TCP/IP)
  • Builds strong cross-functional working relationships
  • Automates software with continuous integration / continuous delivery
  • Delivers enterprise software in Agile environments
  • Communicates very well in written and verbal form
  • Works autonomously
  • Coordinates effectively in distributed team environments
  • Manages simultaneous work streams with ease
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, and willingness to help debug difficult issues

Required Education Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
