Scheduling Manager

This is a manager level position that reports to the Senior Manager - Manufacturing and Production Services for Central Shops. This manager will lead a team responsible for daily production scheduling, detailed labor forecasting, and project / cycle overhaul schedule analysis. Strong partnership with clients, internal project managers, estimating, planning and production operations is vital. We are looking for a creative and dedicated individual who will fit with our collaborative culture.
Leading the team

  • This manager will lead 1 clerical and 3 salaried Cast Members that are highly skilled and diversified. The safety of the cast and guest is the manager’s first priority. The position requires a person to be nimble in thought and execution, they must be effective in leadership, management, technical aptitude and have strong relationship skills. To be successful, a manager must be able to provide the team with a vision and inspire them to achieve it.


“A day in the life of…”

  • As a senior leader, you set the vision and manage priorities and challenge the status quo. It should be stressed that a manager must “fly high” and “dive into the weeds.” There is no “typical day” for this position. A successful manager will thrive in a fast paced environment with ever changing demands. The Walt Disney World resort has operations that are ongoing 24/7 and 365 days of the year. As such, the manager’s responsibilities will require them to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

ResponsibilitiesManagement and Leadership

  • Develop and implement safety strategies that continue to improve the safety of guest and cast.
  • Promote a safety culture where “No One Gets Hurt”.
  • Establish a vision for your team that fosters innovation and delivers continual improvement (challenge the status quo).
  • Approach high priority problems with a sense of urgency and create a culture within your team that applies that same urgency to problem solving and implementation.
  • Hold teams accountable for performance that meets or exceeds expectations and aligns with organizational vision.
  • Meet with external clients and internal partners to clarify specific requirements.
  • Ensure clarity around priorities and goals for your direct reports.
  • Daily production of Master Production Schedule (MPS) levelled by work center
  • Adjust MPS priorities to maximize Ship On Time and level labor
  • Chairing weekly headcount forecasting meeting, identify volume shortages and shift resources to match demands
  • Partner with Planning & Operations to determine outsourcing levels to balance routine, cycle overhaul and project labor demands with available capacity
  • Provide monthly head count forecast for Central Shops including recommendations on hiring and labor cross utilizations strategies.
  • Produce weekly Cycle Overhaul schedule
  • Manage PUMBAA process, develop strategies and action items, lead monthly meeting with Engineering Services Attractions Managers
  • Process owner and primary interface with Maximo / IT teams on schedule system development and enhancement
  • Strategic Partnership with Facility Asset Management (FAM) Scheduling Mgr and Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) Scheduling Managers
  • Develop project schedules, defining milestones, critical path, and labor resource requirements / potential impacts on current commitments
  • Primavera training of scheduling team
  • Perform schedule analysis and generate metrics for better production control
  • Work across functions with peers in other groups to ensure collaboration for shared goals.
  • Know your operation and teach it to your cast members. Mentor, train and coach cast members on how to perform their job safely and effectively.
  • Examine practices, remove barriers, and identify improvements in the daily operation.


Technical Aptitude

  • Ability to apply customer relationship management (CRM) skills including data analytics.
  • Partner with internal manufacturing operations team to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency with our safety programs and policies.
  • Demonstrate and apply strong computer skills and embrace technology.
  • Continuously seek innovative solutions to technical challenges.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of comprehensive Primavera P6 scheduling experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead direct reports and influence peers
  • Demonstrated strong business and technical acumen.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interface with all levels of organization
  • Ability to work in United States
  • 3 or more years in a manufacturing environment

Required Education

  • 5 or more years of comprehensive Primavera P6 scheduling experience
  • 3 or more years in a manufacturing environment
