Principal Technical Architect

The Principal Technical Architect within the Engineering Excellence team drives the architectural solutions to complex business and engineering problems. The Principal Technical Architect must excel at planning, communicating and driving architecture, engineering and infrastructure development - driving changes that increase technology performance and availability, reduce time to market, new capabilities across the enterprise, decrease complexity and optimize revenue and cost. In addition the architect will be challenged with identifying innovative ideas and proof of concept to deliver against the existing and future needs of our Guests. Responsibilities
- Develop product roadmap, architecture artifacts and delivery strategy for engineering solutions
- Market research in key focus areas to build product roadmap and drive quick POCs for feasibility
- Establish and maintain development standards and prescriptions
- Develop long term technical roadmap and continual revenue/cost optimization
- Lead and manage implementation of complex engineering solutions across the enterprise
- Effectively liaison between Managers, Solution/Architecture Engineering, Development and Operations teams to implement large and complex engineering solutions
- Work closely with Business & Technology Leaders to define and implement critical business functions, needs and products
- Evaluate and optimize estimates from development teams to ensure quality and accuracy
- Ensure alignment between technology investment (RA) and business strategy roadmaps
- Ensure deliverables across engineering teams are high quality and clearly documented
- Challenge the status quo through intellectual curiosity and natural inquisitiveness to look beyond the obvious for continuous improvement opportunities
- Manage and appropriately escalate delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes tied to the engineering initiatives to the stake holders
- Lead and provide technical leadership to architects, leads and developers in geographically dispersed location
Basic Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing large engineering initiatives and team
- Strong technical knowledge of digital environment including Mobile, Web, Apps, APIs, Messaging, Databases, Big Data, Networks and their Interactions
- Required knowledge and understanding of technical architecture, application systems design and integration in a large heterogeneous enterprise environment with hands on experience in SOA, Angular/Node/React, Java/J2EE, XML, Apache TomCat, Rules Engine, Oracle or DB2 programming methodologies
- Strong understating of cryptography, certificates and security solutions including OAuth, Mutual Auth, Transport and Message level security a plus
- Experience in working with OpenSource code and frameworks a must
- Knowledge of industry standard project execution methodologies like Agile/SCRUM, Waterfall, RUP and Iterative a must
- Has demonstrated innovative ideas to reduce overall cost of deliverables with improved quality and time to market
- Experience in proposing and conducting POCs in latest technology trends including iOS, API’s, Social Media integration, Wearables, RESS and RWD a definite plus
- Has demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies, quickly and effectively
- Excellent leadership, communication and presentation skills
- Proven experience influencing business and technology leadership
- Demonstrated professional written, verbal, and presentation communications skills.
- Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10-15 years experience in technology
- 7+ years experience in architecting and designing complex digital systems, SOA Services and databases in large companies
- Experience in Advanced and Emerging Payment Solutions a plus
- Experience working in a multi-national and multicultural environment
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule and travel requirements
- Ability to embrace organizational change
- Demonstrates strong ability to influence without authority
- Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills
Required Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience, is preferred
- Additionally, the following attributes would be highly desirable:
- Enterprise Architect Certification
- Scrum Master Certification
