Mgr- Data Technology

Are you a strong leader who will lead our dynamic Database Operations team providing technical and supervisory leadership for the existing database environment while looking for opportunities to improve operational readiness and processes? This is an ideal opportunity for you if you have strong, senior-level database operations experience, a desire for leading a team of highly experienced DBA’s and Data management resources in a fast pace environment. You should be comfortable in navigating through day-to-day challenges associated with managing operational responsibilities.
The candidate must possess the ability to share and communicate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, to business sponsors and partners, technical resources, and executives, in clear concise language that is the effective for each respective group. Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day activities of database administration team managing database platform on premise and Cloud.
  • Lead the team of 24X7 Oracle Database Administrators. Establish goals, key performance indicators and service level agreements to continually improve the performance of Database Operations team
  • Present technical information and concepts to Application delivery teams / key stakeholders.
  • Maintain database stability and availability by setting and enforcing reference architecture standards (in partnership with Database engineering team), controls and by enabling proactive incident and problem management.
  • Prepare for database expansion by studying plans and requirements
  • Keep technology leaders informed by preparing reports on system performance and problems.
  • Maintain and accomplish technical currency to keep database platform upgrades and improvements latest, in partnership with Database engineering team
  • Maintain database performance by enabling team to troubleshooting problems.
  • Secure database platforms by developing policies, procedures, and controls in partnership with IT Security team.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Partner with Database engineering team in developing and driving database platform strategies, including relational and non-relational platforms
  • Manage licenses, usage and audit compliance of the database platforms
  • Develop and manage collaborative relationships with application and database engineering teams
  • Manage transition of routine tasks and operational activities from Database engineering team in a structured and measurable manner
  • Making determination of the right Database solutions for different solutions, including traditional relational databases as well as non-relational databases in partnership with Database engineering team
  • Manage Budget
  • Challenge the status quo through intellectual curiosity and natural inquisitiveness to look beyond the obvious for continuous improvement opportunities

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years in Oracle database administration, platform design, solution, delivery and operations
  • Have led a team of highly experienced Oracle database administrators working in 24X7 model
  • Depth of knowledge with Oracle database and server performance analytics
  • Minimum 10 years’ work experience in Database Engineering and design, Oracle and MySQL preferred
  • Experience with high transactional, business critical services
  • Expert level experience with RDBMS technologies primarily Oracle, with nice to have experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL and Maria DB.
  • Nice to have experience with non-relational database systems such as Cassandra, MongoDB, CouchDB, Redis etc.
  • Experience with cloud based deployments
  • Nice to have Experience with AWS database services and architecture (RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift)
  • Database tuning and performance management experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, good judgment, and team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Required Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline, and/or equivalent related work experience
