Mechanical Engineer, Sr. - Ride Systems (PH)

Walt Disney Imagineering is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of The Walt Disney Company. Its talented corps of Imagineers is responsible for the creation - from concept initiation through installation - of all Disney Resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, and new media projects.
Perform Mechanical Engineering related to amusement park ride vehicle, track and propulsion system design where durability, long life, reliability and safety are a must. Function within a team performing various engineering tasks: concepts, mock ups, design, ergonomics, layout, stress analysis, and supervise detail design. Responsibilities• Perform mechanical engineering design, analysis, and production support on theme park rides
• Responsible for the complete design cycle of a ride or ride component from mock up through design, production and test
• Provide ride system interface information to other groups within WDI
• Provide installation support in the field
• Author and perform test plans
• Direct designers
• Perform stress analysis
• Manage vendors during production
• Check design drawings
• Author specifications
• Able to work on multiple projects
• Manages own work, able to provide project engineer with good estimate of time to complete a particular design
• Works outside the engineering community to interface with other departments Basic Qualifications• At least 5 years of experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Proficiency in SolidWorks
• Advanced knowledge about mechanical components
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Machine design skills
• Fundamental knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
• Performs tolerance studies
• Performs static and dynamic analysis
• Material selection skills
• Ability to design weldments
• Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis
• Works well with others
• Available to travel as required Preferred Qualifications• Available to relocate for up to 1.5 years. Required Education • BS Mechanical Engineering required
