Culinary Assistant, Cook II

  • Working in an a la carte, buffet, catering/special events, or Quick-Service/Food Court environment (may include an on-stage cooking location)
  • Working with basic recipes and learning advanced food preparation
  • Gaining skills in culinary fundamentals in hot and cold food station setup, sauce-making, catering production, and salad and sandwich preparation
  • Deep-frying, sautéing, roasting, boiling, and grilling, along with vegetable, grains, and starch cookery
  • Following standardized recipes and food sanitation guidelines
  • Students with more years of experience may be considered for a Cook I role


Culinary Assistant, Baking & Pastry

  • Working in a high-volume bakery, banquet, catering/special events, or restaurant environment
  • Learning the technical skills of plated dessert preparations as well as muffins, breads, cakes, petit fours, and wedding cakes
  • Gaining knowledge of food cost control and product ordering
  • Mixing, cutting, proofing, and baking
  • Following standardized recipes and food sanitation guidelines
  • Students with more years of experience may be considered for a Baking & Pastry I role


Basic QualificationsWhat you bring to the table…

  • Ability to adapt to production requirements
  • Desire to learn the food and beverage industry
  • Exposure to proper knife skills
  • Focus on food
  • Good judgment of food quality
  • Guest service focus

Required Education

  • Full-time or part-time student in a school of Culinary Arts seeking a certificate or degree, or enrolled in a Culinary/Baking and Pastry school and studying toward a Baking and Pâtisserie Science degree.
    • Currently enrolled in at least one class and have completed at least one semester or
    • Graduated in the past twelve (12) months.
  • Currently enrolled students may need to meet additional school requirements, such as:
    • G.P.A.
    • Grade level
    • Number of credit hours earned.

Additional Information

  • Programs occur year-around, and vary in length. The specific time frame of your program will be discussed at the time of the interview.
  • A Disney Culinary Program participant's wage will be $10.83 per hour ($12.31 per hour for Cook I / Baking & Pastry I).
