Medical Management Specialist

The Medical Management Specialist is a key/trusted member of the HR team that provides seamless, timely, and accurate service to leaders, Cast Members, and partners in facilitating worker’s compensation claims, return to work management, medical accommodations (temporary and permanent restrictions), and medical note processing. This role will serve as a liaison between Aulani leaders, Cast Members, and partners (Worker’s Compensation, Safety, Ability Management, Health Services, Workforce Management, and Liberty Mutual Insurance) to ensure appropriate and timely return to work of Cast Members for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.

ResponsibilitiesWorker’s Compensation

  • Serve as point of contact for Aulani worker’s compensation claims
  • Review Company Nurse incident reports and determine appropriate follow-up steps with leaders
  • Ensure timely responses from Aulani to partners’ regarding requests for information
  • Facilitate Aulani’s Return-to-Work Program and work with leaders and partners on appropriate and timely return to work of injured Cast Members
  • Facilitate the permanent accommodation process if required

Medical Accommodations

  • Ensure medical notes include all pertinent information and follow-through with Cast Member if any clarification is needed
  • Review confidential medical notes and work with leaders on temporary accommodations
  • Refer Cast Members to permanent workplace accommodations process if appropriate
  • Facilitate the permanent accommodation process if required
Medical Note Processing
  • Review and process confidential medical notes via the Company’s Health Management System (HMS)
  • Communicates pertinent information to leaders, Cast Members, and partners regarding Cast Member’s medical status
  • Offers Cast Members loss wage programs as necessary for medical leaves

Perform other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications

  • Full availability including weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with all levels of Cast
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and be part of a team environment
  • Proven ability to think creatively and partner in problem solving
  • Demonstrated proficiency with: MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Publisher, MS Word, MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent follow through skills, with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated initiative to take action to resolve issues, accomplish tasks, and improve efficiency
  • Strong service orientation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with and knowledge of worker’s compensation, medical accommodations, return to work management
  • Knowledge of HR specific Company policies and practices

Required Education High school degree or equivalent
Preferred Education

Bachelor's degree (HR or business related)
