PH-Show Electronic Engineer, Sr - Systems

Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of Disney’s Parks and Resorts business segment. Representing more than 150 disciplines, its talented corps of Imagineers are responsible for the creation of Disney resorts, theme parks and attractions, hotels, water parks, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, cruise ships and new media technology projects.
Perform Controls / Electronic Engineering activities related to attractions show and park/resort wide electronic systems.
Responsibilities

  • Be Part of an engineering team in the production of designs, documentation for complex projects through all phases of engineering design, production, installation, testing, and documentation
  • Develop procurement specifications and design documents with emphasis on complex systems involving equipment, components, systems design and integration, procurement and installation
  • Must stay versed on current technology worldwide
  • Ensure conformance to department, national, and local standards and procedures
  • Provide Controls and Systems engineering manpower and schedule planning in support of estimating activities
  • Review final electronic, controls and systems and specialty contractor documentation and review as-built drawings
  • May be designing and implementing system architectures not used before
  • Must attempt new variants of show control architectures
  • Manage and Develop budgets up to $5,000,000
  • Regular communication with project and Creative team as well as Park Representatives (ops and maintenance) – daily, weekly, and monthly updates
  • Develop unique show product specifications
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering with A/V, Theatrical Electronics and Control Systems as well as complex electromechanical system such as Hydraulics and Robotic systems
  • Park-wide System Integration
  • Current on evolving industrial and theatrical technologies
  • Lead & Supervise field technicians and support personnel as required
  • Supervise Vendor design activities and resolve technical conflicts between Vendors
  • Direct designers in the preparation of detailed facility and electronic equipment drawings
  • Percent time leading 50%
  • Project and Staffing Strategy as well as Financial reviewed by Manager or Project leader
  • Schedule, Technical and Design latitude reviewed only at Project Design Reviews
  • Interaction with Show Controls, Electronics and A/V project team(s) daily
  • Builds relationships with country local codes and norms, local authorities who have jurisdiction
  • Ability to present technical concepts in manner understandable by non-technical people
  • Influence outside vendor product and industry standards development
  • Develop and execute all necessary factory and site acceptance test plans
  • Assist in the creation of controls documentation including Theory of Operations and Maintenance Manuals and lead/assist with the training of maintenance and operations personnel

Basic Qualifications

  • 7 to 10+ years Controls and Systems Engineering experience
  • Develop unique show product specifications
  • Knowledge of complex electromechanical systems such as Hydraulics and Robotic systems
  • Parkwide System Integration
  • Current on evolving industrial and theatrical technologies
  • Must be able to travel to all sites, as required, for periods of one to six weeks or more
  • Relocations for up to a year may be required

Required Education

  • BS Electrical OR Electronic OR Computer Engineer
  • MS preferred

Preferred Education

  • Desire a State Professional Engineering License in Electrical
