#disneyinstitute ResponsibilitiesAs the Disney Institute Copy Editor/Writer intern, you will have the opportunity to support the content development team in copy editing and writing of client-facing materials. Specifically, this role works with the team responsible for executing the conceptual design of projects that align with course objectives, client needs, and Disney Institute goals. You will work in partnership with other members of the content team as well as subject matter expert(s), client representatives, and contractors.


Make an Impact by...

  • Partnering with content team members and other DI Cast Members in support of the copy editing and writing projects assigned, and throughout the entire design process as needed.
  • Learning and utilize Disney Institute’s approach to content design and teaching methodology.
  • Supporting the team by proofreading, editing, and providing supplemental writing as necessary.
  • Learning and applying the DI nomenclature, style, and brand guidelines.
  • Partnering with graphic designers and other DI Cast in final copy editing to ensure consistency and accuracy of information when developing content prior to sending to print or delivering product to client.
  • Observing real-time classes to gain perspective of implementation of content design.
  • Updating content as appropriate based on business needs and feedback from clients and partners.

Basic QualificationsWhat you Bring to the Role...

  • Excellent communication skills as a writer and copy editor requiring expert-level spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Ability to interview, research, and gather information to write content needed for a variety of audiences.
  • Basic design skills to assist in the production of professionally printed books and other presentation materials.
  • Strong skills in a Mac OS environment with proficiency in the use of MSWord using Macros, Acrobat Pro, Adobe InDesign, and Keynote applications.

Preferred Education

  • Junior, senior or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications or other closely related field

    Internship Eligibility:
  • Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR have graduated from college within the past six months OR be currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Not have already completed two consecutive (spring/fall) College or Professional Internship Programs
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are June 2018 through January 2019. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.
Housing: This internship is located in Orlando, FL. A limited amount of company-sponsored housing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
