Director of Banquets-Disneyland Hotel

Lead the integration and execution of the Banquet Team's strategy and vision and ensure the operational excellence of the Banquets team including salaried direct reports in front of house roles. Core area of responsibility is leading the Banquets Managers and Cast to deliver exceptional, one of a kind Guest Experiences at the Disneyland Hotel. Foster a positive environment that builds community and trust by supporting the Disney Leadership behaviors. Serve as a leader and teacher of excellence in safety, courtesy, show and efficiency. Maximizes revenue opportunities and maximizes profit by effectively managing costs. Utilize data and metrics to drive operational improvements across multiple functions in Banquets and in partnership with other lines of business.
Responsibilities

  • Supports the General Manager in the development and implementation of the strategic plan and vision for the Banquets Department consistent with the company’s objectives
  • Translate and integrate the vision and strategies into tactical operating plans focused on innovation and continuous process improvements. Plans should drive enhanced Guest, Cast and financial results across all lines of business, taking into account the current competitive environment and growing expectations of our Guest and Cast.
  • Oversee and manage all financial profit and operating expenses including revenue generation, cost containment and resource optimization for a team. Oversee budgets, labor management, etc. Actively contribute to the preparation of the annual operating plan and provide input for capital Market Guest Operational Improvement and Integrated Facility Plans.
  • Interpret and utilize metrics and operational indicators to measure, motivate and enhance performance.
  • Serve as a change agent, taking calculated risks to integrate processes, removing barriers and aligning performance goals. Influence key partners and Cast to ensure execution of the strategic plans are realized.
  • Drive region innovation and optimization efforts as a leader of the Operating team and support a One Resort mind set to ensure seamless and continuous Guest experiences.
  • Serve as a representative and agent of the Disney brand.
  • Understand how to leverage the history and heritage of the Disneyland Resort to drive innovative business solutions.
  • Develops and maintains effective communications between all operating departments
  • Ensures all dining facilities and Cast are in compliance with food handling and safety guidelines
  • Competency and understanding of California Alcoholic Beverage Laws and regulations
  • Strong advocate for change, innovation and continuous improvement
  • Strong understanding of union environment, union rules and compliance
  • Consults with Guests in order to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and conventions
  • Maintains a strong working relationship with guests/clients and vendors
  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifies excellent customer service and creates a positive atmosphere for guest relations
  • Coordinates the development, interpretation and implementation of operating procedures and training programs, menus, and labor deployment
  • Oversees the execution of event logistics for all events
  • Ensures function space and corresponding heart of the house areas are cleaned and maintained
  • Ensures furniture and equipment is maintained and inventory levels are kept in accordance to company guidelines

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in high volume upscale banquets environment
  • Hospitality or related degree preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, experienced with POS systems, Daylight, Excel and Word.
  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting and capital expenditures
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Food and Beverage preparation and presentation
  • Hotel or restaurant management and/or extensive management Food & Beverage experience in a major hotel/resort complex handling multi-unit food and beverage departments is preferred
  • Superior guest service skills and attention to detail
  • Maintain flexible schedule to include working on weekends and holidays
