Sr Editor

Senior Editor for will edit books specializing in collections, picture books, middle grade and YA. Properties will primarily include Disney Princess, Disney*Pixar, Classics, among others. Responsibilities

• Originate, acquire, develop, and manage titles
• Develop editorial creation for new initiatives
• Mentor junior staff
• Know how to work with talent and agents
• Guide projects through the publishing process by working with design, production, as well as sales + marketing
• Negotiate deals with authors, agents, licensors, packagers, and overseas publishers, and maintain relationships with them and other publishing industry professionals
• Research trends not only in publishing but in other relevant categories

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in children’s publishing; experience with picture books and novels preferred.
• Applicant must be able to prioritize, multi-task, manage resources across multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
• Candidate must be highly motivated, productive, and detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills.
• Creative thinker and problem solver who is able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge/understanding of publishing functions, process, and formats required.
• Excellent developmental, line editing, and copyediting and proofreading skills.
• Knowledge of the editorial process and copyediting tools
• Experience working on children’s products as an editor
• Preferable good knowledge of the Disney properties and franchises
• Proficiency in email, word, excel, powerpoint

Required Education

• Bachelors of Art Degree in Communications, journalism, or new media
• Relevant editing coursework or equivalent experience
