Lead Software Engineer, Backend

DCPI is seeking a lead backend developer to join an agile group in bringing a new level of focus platform performance. This individual will be the member of a cross-functional team responsible for enhancing the performance and stability of DisneyLife apps and services. This candidate will be expected to deliver quickly and iteratively in an agile environment, brainstorm solutions, and take ownership of the technology stack. Responsibilities

• Build and create backend services using Python
• Identify areas of technology improvement based on data
• Work with internal open source projects and teams to leverage the full potential of Disney technologies
• Deliver polished projects and tasks with a precise attention to detail
• Learn about and work in new technologies, languages and platforms
• Work in a cross-functional team to leverage full stack technology opportunities
• Guide other backend engineers to ensure backend architecture stays consistent
• Thrive in an innovative, dynamic, collaborative and fast paced environment

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of web or mobile backend development expertise in a professional environment
• Has operated on a production product for at least 1 year using SQL as a database
• Well versed knowledge working with Python
• Experience in Python web frameworks such as Flask or Django
• Basic understanding of GraphQL and its value in projects
• Worked with Jenkins in a previous project
• Strong technical, problem-solving, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work on diverse projects requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving, time management and logical judgment
• Well-versed and active user of GitHub

Preferred Qualifications

• Has worked with GraphQL in production
• Experiencing operating a production product in Google Cloud (especially App Engine)
• 2-3 years of production experience with MySQL

Required Education

• BS in Computer Science, web development, a related technology field or equivalent experience
