Lead Build & Release Engineer

LOCATIONS:

As a Lead Software Engineer on our DevOps Build & Release team, you’ll be on the front line working directly with our software engineering teams to get their creations built, tested, and out to our guests as smoothly and efficiently as possible. You will help those teams deliver on their CI and CD goals to move quickly and effectively. You will work with mobile code, server code, asset pipelines, and will help bring together multiple teams to deliver on this goal. You will identify automation opportunities, own and resolve problems, and work across many internal teams to smoothe the experience and achieve results for our development teams. You’ll be working with people across many groups both inside and outside Disney, so good communication skills and a positive attitude are a must. ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities will include:

  • Extend, evolve, and support existing Jenkins-based CI pipelines
  • Understand and troubleshoot underlying details of the build & compilation process for applications and components
  • Identify the need for new tools and pipelines. Own these throughout their lifecycle from planning to sunset
  • Evangelize the benefits of CI and help teams achieve more rapid iteration with fewer bugs
  • Identify current pain points for our internal customers and propose solutions both with process and tooling
  • Support integrations with multiple 3rd party platforms and services
  • Act as a problem solver for our internal customers even when the solution may lie with another team. Own problems to resolution regardless of where the fix may reside
  • Integrate current workflows with automated on-device testing systems

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years build engineering including Jenkins
  • 4+ years software development using Java, Ruby, C#, Groovy (or similar scripting languages)
  • 4+ years workflow automation
  • 2+ years experience in gaming, preferably in online and mobile games
  • 2+ years working with mobile builds, preferably Unity
  • 4+ years experience with various DevOps technologies including Chef
