Full-Stack Engineer (Java)

LOCATIONS:

The Senior Programmer Analyst position will be part of the DCPI-Tech Licensing Business Systems team responsible for Online Product Approval and eBusiness Security B2B Web applications.
As part of this team, you will provide leadership in maintaining and extending our current Product Development, and E-Business Security web applications, and will work closely with the Business System Analysts to implement new requirements for the Licensing, Publishing, ESPN, Marvel, ABC, Lucas, and Retail businesses. In addition, you will provide “forward-thinking” solutions in anticipating future technical and business directions. You will demonstrate your software design & development skills, and lead other programmers within all phases of the software development lifecycle. You will be implementing robust and scalable web applications to ensure a stable and predictable operating environment for the user community. You will also write system design technical specifications, and provide development estimates for new business solutions and projects

Your critical thinking allows you to apply the engineering knowledge you gain to new projects and opportunities. The end result of your work is the successful delivery of engineered code that ensures a stable and secure B2B web applications, which supports memorable experiences for our clients.
What we are looking for:

  • Lead for multiple software development projects: Lead estimations, technical analysis, design, and development for assigned projects. Mitigate risks and issues, escalating when necessary. Create detailed design specifications. Analyze solutions and write system design technical specifications, and provide development estimates for business solutions and projects.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Partner with QA teams to confirm defects and fix them during QA and UAT phases. Unit test and code-review developed code.
  • Implementation: Drive change management requests through all environments. Partner with DCPI teams to implement high quality solutions.
  • Provide production support which includes:
    • Provide resolutions to production incidents and close all tickets within agreed SLA’s.
    • Determine root-cause for high priority or frequently recurring issues
    • Provide off-hours level-3 support, per rotating on-call schedule

Responsibilities

  • Mastery of web development in front, middle, and back-end tiers with strong ability to lead other developers in accomplishing greater project goals
  • Capable of writing designs and writing code that aligns with the web industry, Disney standards and security guidelines
  • Fast learner with ability to understand highly complex code and business logic
  • Strong understanding of database, storage, authentication, security and other infrastructure technologies and ability to leverage them for successful system implementation
  • Some experience with complex business workflow engines
  • Capable of developing accurate task estimates in support of a project.
  • Capable of providing engineering support for a large enterprise-scale web application
  • Familiarity with user security and identity management systems
  • Proficient in both written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to establish strong partnerships with other developers, project manager, business analysts, architects, DBA’s, QA teams, and other team members
  • Demonstrates ability to meet project milestones, resolve multiple tasks, and juggle multiple projects simultaneously, and able to quickly shift focus and priorities as necessary
  • Excellent communication skills especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics to both technical and non-technical audience.
  • Responsible for effectively managing own time according to agreed-to priorities.
  • A “Get it done” attitude. Not afraid to “roll up your sleeves” and do what is necessary to move things forward
  • Ability to be successful with minimal direction
  • Ability to quickly adapt to evolving and growing needs of business

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in development of large web applications, using; Java frameworks utilizing J2EE, Spring, Spring-MVC, Web Services, REST, MVC, JAX-RS, OAuth/SAML, JDBC, Front-end technologies, JSP, JavaScript, AJAX, JQuery, JSON, Web 2.0 technologies (HTML5, JQuery, Angular 2)
  • 5+ years designing and implementing database models with MS SQL Server or Oracle
  • Familiarity with user security and identity management systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency with below tools is required: Tomcat, eclipse, GitLab/GitHub, IBM WebSphere, Jenkins, Maven, Jira, Confluence Wiki, SQL Server Enterprise Studio, and modern operating systems & browsers.
  • Great written and oral communication skills
